Storm 6"x6" on Archival Board Available unframed or framed For a Larger View, Click Here I've been in a creative Funk! Partly because the days are short and my energy is low. Partly because I've been learning/teaching myself to paint glass and none are suitable for viewing yet. When I am in a Really BIG creative Funk I turn to painting the Sun. I don't know what it is about the Sun? But it is the one thing that I can sit down and start off the same way every time and just let them flow out of me. Each one comes out in it's own unique way and I never have a clue as to what it is really going to look like until the muse says to me I am finished. They don't take me very long to do and they are quite relaxing to paint. I Love their fiery color and the wonderful texture they get due to my use of the palette knife. As we get closer to the winter solstice and deep in the dark of the longest night. Sing to the newborn Sun and may this fiery Sun Storm warm you from within. Please feel free to hang out in the warmth and fiery energy of this sun and then pass it along to someone else who might be in the need of it's energy as well. |

Hang Time
Hang Time 6"x6" Oil on Archival Board Available Framed or Unframed For a Larger View, Click Here Hang Time, makes me think of a surfer trying to Hang onto a wave. This little Sun Jelly is doing it's own version of Hang Time. Just Hanging out waiting for the next Ebb or Flow of the surf to move it along. I just love painting these Sun Jellies! There's just something so relaxing and serene about them, yet they are full of life and color. Makes me just want to sit there for hours and watch a whole tank full of them just floating around. Please feel free to take a few moments and hang out with Hang Time. Enjoy. |

Dreaming in SunFlowers, Original Oil Painting
Dreaming in SunFlowers
The Space Between 16"x16"x1.5" Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas Available $350 For a Larger View or to Purchase Click HERE |
As the Shortest day of the Year approaches
I start to Dream in
SunFlowers.
Must have something to do with
only seeing the sun
for a few hours each day.
To me, the Sun is Mecca, something I desperately need
on a daily basis
The sun gives me Energy and Life.
With the short days upon us,
I need the
Happiness and Cheer
these wonderful sunny flowers bring to me.
My own Personal Pick Me Up.

Fall Foliage
Fall Foliage 6"x6" Original Oil on Board, Palette Knife Painting For a Larger View, Click Here Looking back on painting these Palm Trees in non-traditional colors I think my New England heritage was making an Appearance. Though I may be living in the desert these days my heart will always be in New England in the Fall. So I guess it was only natural for me to combine my fascination with the Palm Trees of my current surrondings with my love for the colors of New England in the fall. |

To date this is my one and only
"Jelly" that is
Not
painted in Yellows,
As well as,
the only one that has company
on the canvas.
It also has a couple of other
Differences
that all the other "JellyFish" don't have.
Can you see any of the other differences?

I consider this "entity" to be of the JellyFish realm
however,
I am see it both
floating in Outer Space
as well as

I also see the JellyFish
as both
Embracing itself
and
Unraveling it's tendrils
in search of it's next

Pasadena Palm Tree Studies
Which do you prefer? More Traditional or Loose and Non-Traditional?

Pasadena Palm ~ Non-Traditional Study 8"x8" Oil, Palette Knife on Canvas For a Larger View, Click Here |
Been having a little love affair with Palm Trees as of late.
Love the easy breezy relaxed way they have about them.
Their graceful sway,
The I don't have a care in the world sound.
Just makes you want to sit under one and enjoy a coconut cocktail.
So I decided it might be fun to play with some Palm Trees in the studio.
There's the more traditional palm,
colors and style.
And
The less traditional with loose free knife strokes
using purple and pink colors.

Wish I Were Here
"Wish I Were Here" Oil on Canvas For a larger view or to Purchase Click Here Not quite my usual subject or genre but I loved painting it. I went with a more impressionistic feel with this painting by not painting as much detail as I normally do which was both refreshing and freeing. The piece is called "Wish I Were Here" because the ocean calls to me. There is nothing like the energy of the ocean to wash over you and take all the tension of the world away for a moment in time. The sounds, smell and feel of the ocean is equal to nothing else on this earth for me. |

This Rooster Needs a Name, Suggestions?
"Rooster" Oil on Board 8"x8" For a Larger View or to Purchase Click Here
I Need Help Naming this Rooster
I went to my first painting workshop a few weeks back in CA and one of our exercises was to paint a Rooster. I had actually never painted a rooster before. Quite surprising I know. I found that I really enjoyed painting the rooster, especially with the palette knife. I could create these wonderful stroke marks and have a nice build up of paint as I added color. I LOVED painting the Rooster so much that when I returned home I just had to paint another. So here he is. I sadly do not have a name for him, suggestions anyone?

Here are the last 2 of my Tumbling Series. Tumbling 3 & 4, I think number 4 was the most fun and easiest to paint probably due to the fact that this one just flowed freely as I painted it. Though they were all enjoyable to create. And yes, I will go on record as saying these paintings when hung together are my favorite paintings at the moment. That does tend to change over time and as I paint more. After talking with a good friend, she asked if I was going to sell the 4 paintings individually or keep them as a group. I've thought about this a lot and know in my heart they need to be kept together as they were created to be together. So they are being sold at a 4 piece set. I hope you have enjoyed this series as much as loved painting them.

Tumbling 2 is actually the First of the 4 that I painted. If you compare the bodies of the 4 this one has more "speckles" as are #3 and #4 then #1. Number 2's body is slightly larger then the rest. Again, I am not sure why? But somewhere deep inside the muse just guides me intuitively and that's the way it comes out on the canvas. I can never paint something the same way twice which is fine as each "jellyfish" is different and has it's own unique personality.
Yes, I do refer to them as jellyfish though they started out as a vision in my head and have morphed over time. I actually see them as residing in both the Ocean and Deep Space. You are welcome to see them as something else and somewhere else.
You may ask, why did I name this one number 2? To me, it just feels like it's follows number 1 and is starting to tumble head over heels from there. What do you think?

Tumbling Series, A Closer Look

Technically, Tumbling 1 is actually the last of the 4 that I painted. If you compare the bodies of the 4 this one has a less "speckled" effect. I am not sure why? Tumbling Series
Tumbling 1, 2, 3 & 4 Each painting is 12"x12" Oil on Canvas To View or Purchase click Here |
Tumbling, like a jellyfish caught in a water current tumbling carelessly and freely head over heels. |
I had not planned on these paintings to be their own series. I started with Tumbling 1 to go with a series I had started previously. Once number 1 was done I kept rotating it 90 degrees to see which way I liked it and asked my muse (aka my husband) and he said to me, "what if you did a study with each one going in a different direction. Up, down, right and left? I thought to myself, well that's a thought. I got out 3 more canvas's and went to work. Each one was started pretty much the same way but as with all my tendrils they take on a life of their own and intuitively show me how they want to be. Each painting also decided which direction it ultimately wanted to be in.
